ZOMBIE FILM RULES - The Rules

Film genres have formulas and rules, but how well do films follow those formulas?

An exploration of zombie films and zombie-like films (I'm including things in 28 Days Later which aren't living dead, but infected living, because they have the same feel formula.)  Just because a film may include walking dead in it it isn't enough to include on the list because it doesn't make it part of the genre.

SLASHER FILM RULES - The Rules [2]

Film genres have formulas and rules, but how well do films follow those formulas?

Like the killer from the a Slasher Film the Slasher Film Rules aren't as dead as people thought... and has returned to kill again (not that it killed anyone the first time, the deaths the first were just a coincidence.)  Once again, these are Horror Film Rules or Slasher Film Rules films that Slasher films follower and that a lot of horror films do. These are rules about films in which a small group are killed off one-by-one and who (if anyone) will survive.

CHRISTMAS MOVIES - The Rules

Film genres have formulas and rules, but how well do films follow those formulas?  Let's look at the Christmas film...

It's that time of year, and I thought as a bit of fun I'd do rules for Christmas films.  This isn't just films set at Christmas or Christmas horror films (like Silent Night, Deadly Night or Die Hard or Gremlins) but rather films about Christmas.

THE FILM RULES - Bottom 10

Films have formulas and rules, but how well do films follow those formulas?  Let's look at how the posts are going...

My ten posts on this blog that get have the lowest average weekly traffic.

Why a bottom 10 and not a top ten?  Surely showcasing the better, more popular blogs would be smarter?  Well, I've never been one to equate popularity with quality.  Sure, some may be popular because they are quality, but some may be popular because they contain the words "Doctor Who" or "Nudity" and so get more hits.  But the popular ones are already getting traffic, the unpopular ones are the ones that need the boost.

ROM COM RULES - The Film Rules

There is a certain sub-genre of romantic comedy chick-flicks contain meet-cutes known as Rom Coms.  These films are highly formulaic and cliched.  Perfect to a Film Rules.

But first, for a guide to living in a Chick Flick check out the now cancelled Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23's Season 2 Halloween episode.

SLASHER FILM RULES - The Film Rules

There list  of rules that you regularly see online:  Horror Film Rules or Slasher Film Rules.  They are rules about films in which a small group are killed off one-by-one and who (if anyone) will survive.  The apply to most Slasher films and a number of other non-Slasher Horror films (especially animal and alien attack films) and even Action and Disaster films.  I've chosen to call them Slasher film rules, but will look at other Horror and non-Horror films from time to time.

These are not intended as survival guide but rather as genre rules to explore.  If you're really just trying to survive a real-life slasher film situation, the following this footage will help you survive (ignore the spelling of "sequel"):
