NEXT RULE SET POLL

Films have formulas and rules, but how well do films follow those formulas?

All ten films have been done for the second batch of Slasher Rules.  The next month will see the results of those (and combined with the original lot)... but what happens after that?  Well, do this poll to choose the next set of rules tested:

At the moment "Disaster Films" is winning and "Bond Films" is losing (the loser will be removed from the list).  To help - or stop - either of those happening, have your say.

THE FILM RULES - Bottom Ten #2

Films have formulas and rules, but how well do films follow those formulas?  Let's look at how the posts are going...

My ten posts on this blog that get have the lowest average weekly traffic.

Why a bottom 10 and not a top ten?  Surely showcasing the better, more popular blogs would be smarter?  Well, I've never been one to equate popularity with quality.  Sure, some may be popular because they are quality, but some may be popular because they contain the words "Doctor Who" or "Nudity" and so get more hits.  But the popular ones are already getting traffic, the unpopular ones are the ones that need the boost.

THE FILM RULES - Introduction

Different films and types of films come with rules.

These films create and define genre but they can also make them predictable.  Sometimes it is that predictability that the viewer wants, sometimes following the rules make the film more special when it breaks them.

This blog is designed to test some of the commonly known film rules to see if they are really used in film and conversely to see how closely a variety of films follow the rules of their genre.

A list will be created, through personal observation and viewer consensus (the web, mentions in popular culture, etc).  This list will be blogged.

Then films from the genre will be watched and how they follow the rules analysed.  Eventually, when 10 films have been done how the rules stand up will be looked at.

There will also be the occasional random rule list to keep things bubbling.
